AStA is short for Allgemeiner Studierenden Ausschuss - General Students' Council.
AStA consists of 15 elected members. It promotes events and supports student groups and projects financially. Furthermore, it employs 10 consultants to support students in different fields of life:

Our Service Department includes a centralized counseling center for international students, for chronically ill and disabled students as well as support for problems in the field of equality. In addition, we offer support to all students in any emergency situation.
Our service section for International Students is here for everyone, to provide help and advice regarding studies at the University of Tübingen, as well as everyday life in this beautiful city, to help make your stay easier and more comfortable. This service section is working with the Interest Group of disabled and chronically ill students (TIBS) together. The TIBS see their duties in providing advice and care for disabled and chronically ill students within their academic life. [more]

We advise students that are in a difficult situation because of the common attribution of gender roles in our society. Our work includes advising in cases of sexual abuse, violence against women, psychological problems and questions about the career and child care. [more]
In our service section of social work, we advise students who are in dire straits. This refers both to the general situation for students, as well as on issues such as work, housing, financial support, legal issues etc.

In our service section environmental work, we inform you about environmental issues, events in Tuebingen, Tuebingen opportunities to actively protect the environment and all environmental groups and projects in Tuebingen. Our goal is environmental thinking in the students' daily lives, which should contribute to create an ecologically and sustainable awareness and initiate improvements to the university.

Welcome at the Office and Public Relations Department!
Did you know, that AStA stands for General Students' Council, that the AStA supports artistic, cultural and sporting events, like University Sports, the "ract!" festival or all choirs and theater groups? No?
Then it's time to learn more about us! And that is precisely the task of the office and public speakers. We - that is, Laura Kübler, Sandra Scibisz and Regina Cloos - are responsible for making known the AStA to you as students.
Our activities include updating the website, create promotional materials and the publication of the Art & Culture brochure. We are also the first point of contact for you if you do not know to whom you shall contact you with your problems, or where you have to send your request.
Do not be afraid to contact us! We support you with advice and support and welcome your ideas, criticisms and suggestions!

The Office and Public Relations department coordinates the work of all AStA speakers and is the first choice when it comes to questions about the student council and our work. As the interface to the elected representatives of the Student Council, we are also your contact for questions on funding of projects.

We do not only work on AStA internal tasks, but we are also the first contact point for students having questions dealing with social services at the university (Webmail, VPN client, etc.). Coordination work
Our work covers the areas of coordination "Interdisciplinary Affairs” and “Interregional Cooperation". Here we offer you interesting information and support around the student council work, the Student Council General Assembly and student organizations at the federal and state level.
This unit coordinates the Student Council work on an academic level and advises the student councils and students in budgetary, legal, structural and cultural affairs. [overview of the student groups]

The unit has contact with student representatives at state and national level and takes part in the events. It advises the AStA in national issues and works closely with the student body assembly, which coordinates the work of the unit. Überregional

University Sports
We are also the contact point for all participants, coordinators and teachers of high school sports at the University of Tuebingen. In particular, we are in charge of competitive sports in high school sports, whereas the general university sport is organized by the staff at the Institute for Sports Science (IFS).
